Attendees will acquire valuable knowledge about preventive and predictive monitoring/maintenance, troubleshooting common problems, and optimizing pump systems for enhanced reliability and performance. The presentation will also include operational troubleshooting exercises/examples related to performance. It is tailored for engineers, maintenance and reliability focused users, managers, and technicians seeking a deeper understanding of pump dynamics and industry best practices.

Learning Objectives
  • Acquire skills to identify common pump issues, such as insufficient pressure/capacity, vibration and noise, and mechanical seals and bearings issues.
  • Learn appropriate troubleshooting techniques to identify causes.
  • Understand the common mechanical components and their typical maintenance.

Hydraulic Institute

Alex Moser is the Senior Engineer of Standards and Training at the Hydraulic Institute with technical responsibility for standards, guidebooks, training, and technical programs as well as assisting the governmental regulations committees with technical expertise. Prior to joining the Hydraulic Institute, he held new product development and engineering management positions with a major pump manufacturer, with a focus on new pump design, system analysis, and testing. Mr. Moser obtained his B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Alabama.

 

Peter Gaydon

Deputy Executive Director

Hydraulic Institute

Peter Gaydon is the Deputy Executive Director at the Hydraulic Institute. Mr. Gaydon held design, development, and test engineering positions with major pump manufacturers. He currently serves as member on several pump related standards committees for AWWA, CSA, ASME and serves as the Chair for the AWWA E103 Vertical and Horizontal Line-Shaft Pumps. With the Hydraulic Institute, Mr. Gaydon has technical responsibility for standards, guidebooks, technical regulatory affairs and certification programs. Mr. Gaydon obtained his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alfred.

Webinar Instructions

  1. To join the live webinar session, participants must login to their account and click the "Contents" tab, then select "View Live Webinar Session". After the webinar session concludes, return to the Contents tab. Note that a recording of the webinar will be available shortly after the live session.
  2. Participants must pass a quiz in order to claim PDH credits and a certificate. Click "Complete Quiz for Live Webinar" to begin the quiz. Participants will have 10 attempts and must achieve at least 80% correct to pass. After completing the quiz, return to the Contents tab.
  3. To claim PDH credits and print a certificate, click “Claim Credits & Certificate", then select the “View/Print Your Certificate” button. If you ever lose your certificate, you can come back to the PSM website and view it on your transcript (found in the Dashboard).
