Training Program Overview:

The ‘Introduction to System and Component Fundamentals’ Basic Training covers key aspects of rotodynamic and positive displacement pump types, addressing critical characteristics such as pump and system curves, application considerations, and the impact of different fluid properties. The training delves into the intricacies of system curves, exploring topics such as static and friction head, pipe flow, and measuring system curves through SCADA software, with a focus on optimizing energy consumption. Users will gain insights into pressure and head, uncovering details on different types of pressure, conversion from pressure to head, and the evolving pressure profile within the pump. The training will explore pump efficiency, induction motor functionalities, and the pivotal role of variable frequency drives (VFDs), providing an introductory understanding of their operation and advantages. From pump couplings to rolling element bearings, mechanical seals, and variable speed drives, this training series equips professionals with essential introductory knowledge to excel in the dynamic field of pumps and pumping systems.

Modules:

These ten (10) trainings modules are designed to provide attendees the introductory knowledge on all aspects of the pump, system, and components. Attendees will leave with introductory knowledge and common understanding of pumps and their systems.

Modules 1: Rotodynamic and Positive Displacement Pump Types

Modules 2: System Curves

Modules 3: Pressure and Head

Modules 4: Pump Efficiency

Modules 5: General Function of Induction Motors

Modules 6: Pump Couplings

Modules 7: Types of Rolling Element Bearings

Modules 8: Classification of Mechanical Seals

Modules 9: Types of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)

Modules 10: Functionality of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Each module is approximately 10 - 15 minutes and is followed by a short quiz to confirm your understanding of the topic.

Who Should Attend:

Any person who is interested in the Pump or fluid handling Industry will benefit from this training. This is the starting point for anyone consuming training provided by the Hydraulic Institute and Pump Systems Matter. In particular the topics within this training should be understood before attending the Pump and System Fundamentals On-Demand Training.

Course Materials Included:
