Electric motors are a key driver within a plant’s rotating machinery applications. Safe and reliable operation, of the electric motor and the components that control are key to plant success. With the industry’s push for more efficient systems with higher automation, the requirement to use electric motors with VFDs is becoming more popular. This course will educate the participant on the general function, application, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the electric motor and VFD as a system. It will also cover the interaction the motor and the VFD have with key turbo machinery applications.

Timothy Albers
Director of Product Management
Nidec Motor Corporation
Timothy Albers is the Director of Product Management for Nidec Motor Corporation’s Commercial and Industrial Motor Division/US Motors. His current responsibilities include product management, product planning and new product development for the Commercial and Industrial motors. Mr. Albers has held various positions in marketing for Nidec Motor Corporation and Emerson Motor Company over the last twenty-five years, including Product-line Manager for NEMA motors. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and serves on many Hydraulic Institute technical committees. His past experience includes various Marketing and product development positions at U.S. Motors/Emerson and other marketing and sales positions in electric motors and drives at General Electric Company. He also spent 12 years active and reserves as a U. S. Navy officer and was a qualified operating engineering officer.

Responsible for business development of ABB W/WW Channel Partners, Consulting Engineers & Municipalities by bringing both Drives & Applications and Industry knowledge to educate those working within the W/WW community. Reducing maintenance/repair costs, realizing the best in energy savings and increasing efficiency of their Water, Wastewater and Irrigation systems/facility.
Peter Gaydon
Deputy Executive Director
Hydraulic Institute
Peter Gaydon is the Deputy Executive Director at the Hydraulic Institute. Mr. Gaydon held design, development, and test engineering positions with major pump manufacturers. He currently serves as member on several pump related standards committees for AWWA, CSA, ASME and serves as the Chair for the AWWA E103 Vertical and Horizontal Line-Shaft Pumps. With the Hydraulic Institute, Mr. Gaydon has technical responsibility for standards, guidebooks, technical regulatory affairs and certification programs. Mr. Gaydon obtained his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alfred.
