Troubleshooting Rotodynamic Pump
Vibration Issues
PDH Credits: 1
Overview:
This webinar presents a high-level step-by-step description of troubleshooting techniques to successfully address vibration issues on rotodynamic pumps. The main focus is on centrifugal pumps of all types regarding their typical vibration issues such as imbalance, misalignment, rub, looseness, structural resonance, rotodynamic resonance, thermal loading issues, piping strain, flow-induced sub-synchronous vibration, internal recirculation, rotating stall, shaft failure, etc.
Learning Level - Intermediate:
Intermediate level training is designed for individuals who have some experience and basic knowledge on the topic. It builds upon basic concepts and expands the breadth and depth of understanding supporting the development of skills.
Audience:
Individuals looking gain in depth technical knowledge or those looking for a refresher on applied fundamentals, including experienced maintenance and operation personnel, pump system designers and owners, technical sales, and engineers.
Learning Objectives:
During this webinar, participants will learn:
- How to attack a pump vibration problem
- Identify the instrumentation and the test methods required to uncover the root cause of the vibration issue.
- How to analyze the data using time wave form, frequency spectral analysis (FFT), continuous monitoring, modal analysis (bump testing), motion magnification video (MMV), and operating deflection shape (ODS).
- Symptoms such as imbalance, misalignment, structural resonances, acoustic issues, torsional natural frequencies, cavitation, rotating stall, rubbing, and looseness are discussed.
- Solution methods using finite element analysis (FEA) are discussed along with a detailed case study.
