Intermediate level training is designed for individuals who have some experience and basic knowledge on the topic. It builds upon basic concepts and expands the breadth and depth of understanding supporting the development of skills.

It is recommended that attendees have basic level knowledge or complete basic level training prior to attending this course.

Individuals looking gain in depth technical knowledge or those looking for a refresher on applied fundamentals, including experienced maintenance and operation personnel, pump system designers and owners, technical sales, and engineers.

Learning Objectives

Be familiar with the different types of slurry pumps and their construction and materials.

  • Understand rotating assembly design.
  • Be familiar with how nozzle loads affect the performance of a slurry pump.
  • Understand the difference between mechanical piping loads and hydraulic piping loads.
  • Understand the various types of testing that may be conducted for slurry pumps and when each is appropriate.
  • Understand the types of slurries and their key properties.
  • Understand the effects of slurries on pump performance (significant updates to the standard).
  • Be familiar with froth pumping (significant updates to the standard)
  • Be familiar with wear considerations for slurry pumps.
  • Understand the interactions between slurry pumps and the pumping system (significant updates to the standard)
  • Be familiar with operational considerations for slurry pumps.
