Standardized Learning Path and Certification to Advance the Workforce

Overview:

Learn about pump system certifications offered by HI, their standardized knowledge requirements, and the aligned learning path offered by PSM. Pump System Certification (PSC) Level 1, Level 2, and Pump System Assessment Professional (PSAP) certification will be detailed, including the knowledge progression, alignment with training offered by PSM, and the process to advance your knowledge and prepare yourself or your workforce for certification.  All attendees will get a FREE knowledge challenge quiz to gauge their readiness.

Learning Level - Introductory:

This level of training is designed for individuals to provide awareness and an overview of the topic. The content is informative and aims to familiarize participants with key concepts, terminology, and resources.

Audience:

These certifications are ideal for employers to include in onboarding because they provide standardized training, validation of required knowledge, and a clear path for employees to grow, which will improve development and retention. PSC Level 1, PSC Level 2 & PSAP broaden an individual’s understanding of the pump and fluid handling industry.

  • Current industry workforce challenges.
  • Progressive knowledge requirements for certifications offered by HI.
  • Progressive learning levels offered by PSM.
  • Alignment of pump system training and certification levels.
  • Recommended training and preparation for each certification.

Webinar Instructions:

  1. Click the Contents tab and select "View Webinar".  After the webinar is completed, return to the Contents tab.
  2. Click "Complete Quiz for Webinar" to answer quiz questions. You will have 10 attempts and must get at least 80% correct to proceed. After completing the quiz, return to the Contents tab.
  3. For webinar series, continue this process until you complete all the webinar sessions.
  4. Click "Complete Webinar Survey" to provide your feedback on the webinar to PSM. Scroll down to view all feedback questions as there are questions that expand past the size of the window. 
  5. After completing the survey, click the button “View/Print Your Certificate” in the box titled “Claim Credits and Certificate" to save or print your certificate of completion. If you ever lose your certificate, you can come back to the PSM website and view it on your transcript (found in the Dashboard).

Q&A During Webinar: During the Q&A portion of the webinar questions are welcome that relate to the material presented. The instructor will do their best to address them within the context of the training provided. If time does not permit addressing questions received, PSM staff will make our best effort to provide an answer via email.

Hydraulic Institute and Pump Systems Matter

Matthew Derner is the Senior Manager of Training, Education and Energy Efficiency Programs. He holds a leading role in promoting pump system related programs that deliver energy efficiency in commercial and industrial settings. Additionally, he is responsible for managing Pump Systems Matter (PSM), HI’s Educational Foundation, and for the overall promotion and growth of the Hydraulic Institute’s portfolio of training and certification programs that focus on pump system optimization, and efficiency. Matthew has a strong background in global sales of pumps, drives and various rotating equipment in both the manufacturing and distribution segments, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and total cost of ownership.

Edgar manages the day-to-day activities of the Pump Test Lab Approval Program, the Energy Rating Program, and the Pump System Certification Program. Additionally, he works with HI committee volunteers in the development of new or revised standards, guidebooks, and educational products.
